Aquatic Weed Harvesting An aquatic weed harvester, also known as a water mower, mowing boat and weed cutting boat, is an aquatic machine specifically designed for inland water management to cut and harvest underwater weeds, reeds and other aquatic plant life. The State of Ohio and private contractors provide this service in the Portage Lakes.

AQUA DOC has been providing Aquatic Herbicides in the Portage Lakes for the last 20 years. Their EPA approved products used in the full season program is designed to control nuisance algae and aquatic vegetation, while maintaining a healthy, balanced ecosystem. They are staffed with biologists and licensed aquatic specialists. An experienced aquatic specialist will do a full assessment of your lake area to determine the best management program for your water.

Pond Wiser Inc has been in business since 1989. It was the first company to install ponds in the Stark County, Ohio area. In 2002, the company became licensed with the Ohio Department of Agriculture to offer lake management services. They also employ Certified Applicators.  Besides nuisance aquatic weed and algae control, Pond Wiser offers repairs, rim rocking, and sales of fountains and aeration systems. They are a distributor with Bearon Aquatics. They also provide a winter storage program for the fountains.

Fertilizer Companies Removed Phosphorus

May 10, 2013 Scotts Miracle-Gro has removed phosphorus from its popular Turf Builder line of lawn fertilizer to help reduce the type of harmful algae blooms that have plagued waterways such as Grand Lake St. Marys and Lake Erie.
