Portage Lakes Purple Martin Association (PLPMA)

An organization dedicated to helping the Purple Martins feed, breed, and interact with the environment to the best of their ability. We are happy to have them here in the Portage Lakes and do our best to make them feel welcome. Many volunteers help them to reach their objectives. PLPMA have a large number of gourd homes maintained by members with assistance from community groups. The birds are fed when the weather is inclement and when they are unable to fend for themselves. Young Purple Martins are fitted with bands when appropriate. PLPMA have a number of activities and lectures throughout the year.
