Winter Safety

Winter activity safety is an important issue to keep in mind, especially around ice. When outside, please remember the following safety tips from ODNR:

 

Boating

Speed/Ski Zone Rules- 
Turkeyfoot Lake and East Reservoir permit wake activities according to the following schedule:

Travel is in a counter-clockwise direction.

Monday — Saturday

  • 9:00 am — 12:00 noon

  • Skiing
  • 12:00 noon — 5:00 pm
  • Speeding
  • 5:00 pm — 6:30 pm
  • Skiing
  • 6:30 pm — 8:00 pm
  • Speeding

Sunday and Holidays

  • 9:00 am — 10:00 am
  • Skiing
  • 10:00 am — 2:00 pm
  • Sailing
  • 2:00 pm — 5:00 pm
  • Speeding
  • 5:00 pm — 6:30 pm
  • Skiing
  • 6:30 pm — 8:00 pm
  • Speeding

Boating Safety

  • Be prepared when you go out on the water. Use this Pre Launch Checklist to help you stay safe.
  • Confident and safe boating relies upon the boat and each person aboard being properly equipped. Here is an Equipment Checklist from the ODNR to help you.

Buy your child a life jacket

  • No one can watch a child every minute. Children less than 10 years of age must wear a life jacket on any vessel less than 18 feet in length.
